The movie “Past Events in the Ryukyu Islands” tells the story of the Ryukyu Islands in the 27th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1367). Against the backdrop of the impending collapse of the Yuan Dynasty and the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, Lin Huaiyuan, a fisherman far away in the Ryukyu Islands, was rescued by fishermen from the northern part of the Ryukyu Mountains because his fishing boat capsized. He established a deep relationship with the locals on the Ryukyu Islands, and taught children to read and promote culture. In the process, he fell in love with Xi Niang, and faced pirate intrusions and other challenges with other Ryukyu citizens. In the story, Lin Huaiyuan and others resolved the conflicts between the three Ryukyu countries through wisdom and courage, promoted the unity and cooperation of the three countries, and finally ushered in peace and prosperity.
